Patricia Santos Marcantonio comes from a family of storytellers.
They tell stories about their own past and traditions, tales about people they have met and things they have done, and all in a way that makes you want to keep listening and beg for more. That’s where she got her desire to write and tell stories of her own.
She earned a Bachelor of Science degree with distinction in mass communications from the University of Southern Colorado (now Colorado State University-Pueblo).

Patricia Marcantonio (also writing under the name Patricia Santos Marcantonio) is the author of the Victorian mystery series Felicity Carrol and the Perilous Pursuit and Felicity Carrol and the Murderous Menace (Crooked Lane Books); the courtroom drama novel Verdict in the Desert, published by Arte Público Press, the largest US publisher of contemporary and recovered literature by US Hispanic authors and affiliated with the University of Houston; and Red Ridin’ in the Hood and Other Cuentos (Farrar, Straus and Giroux) which earned an Anne Izard Storyteller’s Choice Award and was named an Américas Award for Children’s and Young Adult Literature Commended Title.

Her horror mystery Under the Blood Moon has been published by Dark Ink and her YA Best Amigas will be released by Regal Publishing in the fall of 2023.

She received Alexa Rose Foundation Grants to produce and direct her original play, Tears for Llorona, inspired by an old Mexican ghost story, and to workshop her play, Starring Jane Eyre. Pioneer Drama Service has published her new play, Roja Ridin’ in the Hood and Other Tales.

She is a member of the Dramatists Guild of America.

Her screenplays placed first in the Willamette Writers Kay Snow and Reel Women of the West

Screenplay contests, as well as placing in the top percentage of the Seattle Film Summit, Phoenix Film Festival, Stage 32 Blood List, MORE Women in Film and Screenwriting Expo 5, and PAGE competitions.

As a journalist, she earned several state and regional awards and was named a Newspaper Association of America Digital Media Fellow.  For several years, she covered crime and courts as a reporter.

She’s given writing presentations at the Willamette Writers, The Cabin, Historical Novel Society, and Pacific Northwest Writers Association conferences.
